In this wedding photography posing guide, we address the wedding party with ideas for how to photograph each side separately. The wedding party is an wonderful opportunity for fun, creative photos. I always photograph the entire wedding party together and separate - the bride with her bridesmaids and the groom with his groomsmen. In our pre-wedding consultation I talk to the bride and groom about their wedding party to get a feel for the group. Are they more reserved and traditional or are they fun and boisterous? For the more carefree group, I suggest personalizing their wedding party photographs by adding props. I always photograph each side of the wedding party in a standard pose. From there we build, gradually getting into the more fun poses.
A good Maid of Honor speech will let them know who you are in relationship to the bride. For example, Hi, I am Sara's life-time friend. I have known her since the first grade, and I know facts about the story of her courtship with James that everyone here probably hasn't heard yet. This is a beginning that creates mystery so the audience will hang on your every word. Notice how this opening connects your past with the bride in a way that is relevant to the guests and keeps you from making the mistake of alienating the guest while you try to have a private moment with the bride or just hog the spotlight.
Even for those that are used to writing and delivering speeches alone, this can still be a challenge - and for those not accustomed to public speech etiquette (more so writing the perfectly balanced wedding speech for the big day), just the thought of standing in front of hundreds of strangers with all the focus on your every word is enough to make anyones creative juices come to a grinding halt.
