Wedding Planning Time Setting a date within one month, will not leave much time (if any) to plan a big wedding, in fact it may barely leave you enough time to plan a small one! Your first consideration should be to how much time you think you will need for your wedding planning and to put together the wedding of your dreams. Are the organized type who knows exactly what they want and how to get it? Or are the type who needs time to deliberate and decide on every detail? As a guide the average time between engagements and wedding day is 12 - 18 months.
In India, in 'Mehdi' approximately two hundred ladies and 50 children gather in the evening. Food will be served to every one including the male members of the house and once the meal is over the men will be asked to leave. Then a group of singers sing traditional wedding songs beginning with all kinds of songs with many lyrics which are very emotional and moving. Consequently, it is not uncommon for many women to cry. The way on which the singing is arranged is also significant; one person will lead then the remaining ladies will repeat the same line in a chorus.
Write all the things that are important to you, and to your mate, and agree that these are the commitments you make to each other. Maybe have another ceremony; invite your friends or just have it by yourselves over a cup of coffee. Look each other in the eye and make or re-make the commitments that will keep you together for a lifetime.
Sending your guests on a wild goose chase to find the reception venue is something that happens more often than you'd think and is one of the biggest wedding mistakes couples overlook. For out-of-town guests, this is confusing; for in-town guests, it's an annoyance. Choosing a reception venue that's close to the wedding site is a must, unless you provide the transportation to and from the reception. More than 15 - 20 minutes away is a hassle, and some guests may not even bother going if it's farther than that.
