These figures can be a good starting point for budgeting your wedding. Obviously, nothing is set in stone but if you follow a budget, you should be around the figure you would like to keep the total cost at. The percentage is based on the total cost. So, if you would like to spend $20,000 total on a wedding, $9,000 ($20,000 x 45%) shall be allocated for the reception.
If you have taken a lot of trouble to organize the music and other entertainment for your big day then it wouldnt hurt to list it out on your program. If your music is well-selected then many of your guests would undoubtedly want to know what is being played. You will also be saving your wedding program as a keepsake of this important day. If it has the music listed then your keepsake will be complete.
What type of music should you play at your wedding? You need to take into account a lot of variables. First, you should consider the type of music both you and the groom like. You should also then consider what type of music your guests will enjoy. If the guest list is primarily older people, then pop music is probably not the way to go for your reception. Provide your DJ, band or musician with a "must-play" list of songs you want included at your reception. But maybe even more important is a "do not play" list. This should be a list of the songs that you absolutely do not want played at your wedding. Read more here about these type of songs.
In the United States, prior to the Great Depression, it was commonplace that the woman received and wore a wedding ring during the wedding ceremony while only 15 percent of wedding ceremonies included rings for the husband and the wife. By approximately 1950, however-and largely as a result of improved economic conditions and marketing by the jewellery industry in the United States-two-ring ceremonies had become the norm and 80 percent of married couples exchanged rings at the ceremony as a sign of their mutual eternal love.
